Free Film Screening: “The Prison in 12 Landscapes”

  • Unnameable Books 66 Avenue A, Turners Falls, MA 01376 Montague, MA, 01376 United States (map)

Join us on Sunday, July 14, from 7-9pm for a free screening of “The Prison in 12 Landscapes.” RSVP below!

A cinematic journey through a series of seemingly ordinary American landscapes, The Prison in Twelve Landscapes excavates the hidden world of the modern prison system and explores lives outside the gates affected by prisons. The Prison in Twelve Landscapes is a film about the prison in which we never see a penitentiary. Instead, the film unfolds as a cinematic journey through a series of landscapes across the USA where prisons do work and affect lives, from a California mountainside where female prisoners fight raging wildfires, to a Bronx warehouse full of goods destined for the state correctional system, to an Appalachian coal town betting its future on the promise of prison jobs.

About the Film Series:
Decarcerate Western Mass is offering a summer film series focused on prison abolition and how it overlaps with other struggles like immigration, criminalized mutual aid, and more.

Each screening will include a talk-back or activity aimed at building political will for abolition of the prison industrial complex in Western Mass and beyond.

We’ll ask for donations at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Masks are always required.

Screening location is subject to change. Please check our
Instagram page for updates.
